One year ago today, I gave birth to a beautiful, dark a haired baby boy. I could go on and on, and say that the labor was excruciating and blah, blah, blah. In reality, I slept for a good 12 hours, pushed for two, and there you were!
You had a rough start from the beginning. You got to stay in the hospital a little longer than I did, but it was for the best. Once you got home, however, life was great. That first night home, you slept so good! I was amazed when I woke up to check on you, and you were just laying there, wide awake and looking around.
That was the only night in your first year that I had to wake you up for a feeding. After that, you definitely cried. While sleeping for you is hard, eight hours straight works for this mama and dad!
As the year progressed you have gained the sweetest personality. You have been a smiley baby since you were just little, and you still are. You have also become very talkative. We aren’t sure what all you are saying, because it is mostly grunts and squeals, but we can generally tell if they are good or bad, and if you are happy or sad! We also think it is absolutely adorable when you chase Grandma’s dogs and yell “pup pup! Pup pup!” And when you ask for mama or daddy.
You are so outgoing that sometimes it scares me! But it makes me so excited because I am sure that as you get older you will go far in life, and take the risks that I, as your mom, was too afraid to. Maybe you will like roller coasters like your daddy! 😊
You are a very playful little guy! You love to throw any kind of ball, drive your little toy cars everywhere, and ‘wrestle’ with daddy. And your giggle has a way of lighting up my whole day. If I have had a long day at work, I can come home and hear your giggle, and it just makes my day better!
You bring so much joy to us every single day, even on the hard days. We have loved to see all of your firsts, whether it is swimming, crawling, or walking. Watching you discover that you can do these things makes us so happy!
We love you Jackson! And we can’t wait to see what the years ahead will bring for you!
