Waffles, Waffles, Waffles…

So recently I shared a picture of home made waffles on Instagram! In our family, we don’t do just any old waffles, we make home made waffles that are literally heaven in your mouth!

Jon and I have made it some what of a tradition that when we watch General Conference, we make home made waffles. It is a silly thing we started the first conference after we got married. Ever since then, every April and October we can count on a small feast of waffles, whipped cream, syrup, and whatever else we decide to top them with! The recipe actually came from Jon’s aunt. Before I got married the only waffles I had were made from Krusteaze mix, or Bisquick, so I was excited to try something different!

After I posted those waffles on my instastory, I had a lot of people message me and ask me for the recipe, so I thought I would share it with you guys!

Marie’s Waffles:

3/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp. Baking POWDER

1/4 cup corn starch

1/4 tsp. Baking SODA

1/2 tsp. Salt

1 1/2 tsp. Sugar

1 cup milk (butter milk is even better!)

1/3 cup veggie oil

1 egg

3/4 tsp. Vanilla extract

This recipe tastes fine using regular milk, but it tastes great when you use butter milk. There have been several times when Jon and I have found ourselves in a pinch because we don’t have butter milk. The problem is, we don’t need butter milk often enough to justify buying it at the store. I did some research and found an awesome way to make a butter milk substitute! Here is a link to take you to a great site that even has a video tutorial!

Thanks so much for letting me share one of My and Jon’s favorite traditions! What are some fun traditions that you guys have?
